March 23rd promises a whole lot of Nothing

Ever since Carl Pei left OnePlus to head up the Nothing startup, there have been rumors that a smartphone could be on the way. These reports only ramped up in nature once Nothing acquired the remnants of Essential’s smartphone development, and thanks to a recently leaked image from you-know-who, the hype over a Nothing-branded smartphone is reaching sky-high proportions. Now the company has announced that it will reveal ‘The Truth’ on March 23rd where we’ll hopefully learn what is coming in 2022 in terms of products.

Besides announcing the March 23rd event, Nothing also revealed that it has secured $70 million in Series B financing and that it plans to hold a new round of community investment. Developing a smartphone takes a fair amount of dough and while a phone is almost certainly in the pipeline we can probably expect some new accessories to help subsidize the journey. In case you were wondering, Nothing has shipped over 400,000 Ear (1) units since the launch back in August 2021 at $99 a pop.

“With this round of financing, we have the fuel to realise the next phase of our vision of a seamless digital future,” said Carl Pei, Nothing CEO and Co-founder. “I’m grateful for the support from our community and investors. Our first year was a warmup, and we can’t wait to reveal what we’re building at Nothing during the upcoming event.”
