Meet the ZTE Axon 30 with a 2nd-Gen under-display selfie camera and 55W fast-charging

    ZTE Axon 30

ZTE is back with a new flagship that sports the second-generation under-display selfie camera and is powered by Qualcomm’s reheated Snapdragon 870G processor. The device is called the Axon 30 and sports a big 6.9-inch OLED display that is unblemished by notches or punch-holes and hardly a bezel in sight.

Powered by the Snapdragon 870G octa-core processor, it’s currently not been announced how much RAM and storage we can expect the Axon 30 to have but we’ll update the article when ZTE reveals the numbers. One thing we do know is that the Axon 30 supports expandable storage so if MicroSD cards are a dealbreaker you can rest easy.

The star of the show is of course the big 6.9-inch OLED display that has FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, 10-bit color depth, and of course, the built-in selfie camera. Being the second-generation under-display camera that sports 400ppi as opposed to the 200ppi on the rest of the panel, it’s hardly possible to see where the selfie camera is placed. This was achieved by the combination of 7 layers of highly transparent materials and three special processing techniques that help to increase the light transmission. As for the actual selfie camera sensor, it has 16 megapixels with an F/2.0 aperture.

The rear cameras consist of a quartet of sensors that includes a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and finally a 2MP depth sensor.

A 4,200mAh battery keeps the lights on while the 55W fast-charging technology will bring about a quick recharge. Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and dual-band WiFi support are present on the phone.

ZTE’s Axon 30 is shaping up to be an interesting handset so long as the brand can stick the landing with a mid-range price point. Speaking of which, pricing and availability are also yet to be revealed but ZTE does say that a global version is coming soon.
