Mercedes-Benz Brings Artificial Intelligence Tech, Selfie Camera to 2024 E-Class

Tech-Heavy Cabin

The interior of the 2024 E-Class features a more minimalist look thanks to a reworked dashboard. A fully digital instrument cluster is complemented by a new infotainment screen and a smaller front-passenger screen. The E-Class pitches its turbine-style air vents for a single unit of vents along the upper portion of the dashboard.

The infotainment system itself will have more tricks up its sleeve for 2024, including a web browser and apps like TikTok. The available Zync entertainment portal will provide owners access to news, games, video streaming and on-demand content for both the main and front-passenger screens.

Another noteworthy addition is a small camera hooked up to the upper portion of the dashboard. Part of the optional MBUX Superscreen system, the camera allows front occupants to take photos and videos or attend video conferences via Zoom or Webex. The camera only works when the E-Class is parked.

The 2024 E-Class will also use another camera, mounted either in the instrument panel or on the dashboard, to monitor the driver’s eye movements. If it senses that the driver is looking at the passenger screen instead of the road, it will dim the screen so only the passenger can view it to reduce distractions.

The 2024 E-Class’ optional active ambient lighting works with the available Burmester 17-speaker premium audio system to have the cabin’s lights pulse to the rhythm of the song playing through the car’s speakers. The new E-Class will also offer artificial intelligence “routines” to help the vehicle adapt to personal habits, Mercedes claims. The automaker gave examples including turning on the seat heaters and adjusting the ambient light to a warm orange color when there’s cold weather and playing romantic music while displaying a rose color on date nights. Routines can be created through templates or be customized through the car’s center screen or via the Mercedes Me Connect app.

Pricing and Release Date

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be making its appearance in dealerships later in the year. We expect pricing and other details to be revealed at that time.
