Microsoft Edge remains a solid browser for security-minded users thanks to its constantly updated security features, and today’s new inclusion is no different. In Edge Canary, select Insiders now have access to a password health monitor that gives information on password strength and offers filters for passwords that have been leaked or reused.
Redditor /u/Leopeva64-2 broke down the changes and provided a gif-based showcase of what the password health enhancements entail (via OnMSFT). Users can sort passwords based on health status or the website they’re associated with and can further filter passwords by their strength level, frequency (reused passwords), or leaked status.
Here’s how Microsoft describes the feature: “Beginning in Microsoft Edge v.91, we will give feedback to you on which of your passwords are weak and/or reused across accounts. This will allow you to stay informed about your security on the web.”
You can access these password features by opening Edge and going to edge://settings/passwords. As mentioned, this feature is rolling out for select users within Canary, so don’t expect to see this in the standard release just yet.
