Microsoft Office 2013’s end-of-service date isn’t a secret, even if many aren’t aware of what the date is. As you can see via Microsoft’s documentation on the matter, the extended service end date for Office 2013 is April 11, 2023. It has been that way for a long time. What’s new is that now Microsoft’s nudging people about the impending end of support.
As reported by BleepingComputer, Microsoft is poking customers with a reminder that 2013’s days are numbered.
“After five years of Mainstream Support, and five years of Extended Support, Office 2013 will reach the End of Extended Support on April 11, 2023,” Microsoft said. “Per the Fixed Lifecycle Policy, after this date security updates for Office 2013 will no longer be available.”
Once April 11 rolls around, say goodbye to fresh bug fixes and routine security patches. A lack of product support comes with consequences. For those who want Microsoft’s protection and assistance, it’s best to upgrade to a more recent version of Office. Or, if you’d rather invest in keeping your Office lineup current forever and ever, go with Microsoft 365.
Other Microsoft products are also falling out of Redmond’s good graces in the near future. Windows 10 version 20H2 is headed toward the exit door in May 2022, though Windows 10 version 21H2 is now widely available to pick up any stragglers. And don’t forget that Internet Explorer goes the way of the dinosaur on June 15, 2022.
