The Surface Duo may be a device that polarizes opinion but you have to hand it to Microsoft for developing such a talked-about product that is only available in the US. Having originally launched with a $1,400 price tag, the Surface Duo is being reduced down to $999 in the US, permanently. There is also good news for fans of the folding device that live in Canada and Europe because Microsoft has announced that the Surface Duo will go on sale in those regions from February 18th.
Microsoft’s curious hardware choices for the $1,399 Surface Duo leaves it in limbo
According to The Verge, the Surface Duo will go on sale in Canada and Europe from February 18th. Which is great news. The bad news is that the price cut in the US is not applicable to the sale price of the Surface Duo in Europe because it will cost €1,549/£1,349. It comes as a bit of a surprise considering that it’s now five months since the device launched, and selling at the original price brings it into conflict with what is arguably the better folding device, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2. You’ll be able to pick up the Surface Duo from Microsoft’s online store as well as Curry’s in the UK.
If you were interested in the Surface Duo but the $1,400 price tag put you off, does the $400 discount make it a more palatable cost?
