Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is rolling out a new beta today with 1.16.210.60, which includes the usual round of bug fixes and changes to improve the general state of Minecraft. However, another change in this week’s beta reminds us all that, yes, this is a beta, and it will have its fair share of bugs. Mojang Studios has removed the recently added glow squid from the “Experimental Features” toggle due to an excessive number of crashes reported by players.
Last week’s Minecraft beta added the glow squid, the mob that emerged victorious from the Minecraft Live mob vote, which will be included in the upcoming Caves and Cliffs Update. Like other Caves and Cliffs Update features tested in recent betas, players could only access glow squids by enabling the “Experimental Features” toggle in Settings. However, the glow squid (and its related items) were causing crashes and issues even for players that didn’t have the “Experimental Features” toggle enabled.
Mojang Studios has removed the glow squid for now, but it’ll return in a future beta. In the meantime, any glow squid items have been removed from players’ games. On a smaller note, Minecraft’s support on older Android devices running Android KitKat (4.4) or older is ending with this beta.
Every Minecraft fan should consider something from our list of Best Minecraft Merch, Toys, and Gifts, either for yourself or a fellow Minecrafter in your life.

Experimental Features
- As with any experiment, things don’t always go as we expected! During the beta testing of the glow squid and its associated features, we have unfortunately discovered an issue that is causing the game to crash far more frequently than we’d like, so we’re going to put the glow squid on pause while we get these issues addressed. In this week’s beta, the glow squid, and the associated items such as the glow frame and dyable signs have been removed, but we will have them back soon!
- What does this mean for my worlds where I have already used these features?
- Chests containing items pertaining to Glow Squid – new items disappear from the chest, regular items do not
- Dyed signs – color on text disappears and the text turns back to black
- Signs with applied Glowing effect as well as color – text on signs stops glowing and color is removed
- Glow Squid – no longer present in-game
- Glowing Item Frames – turn into placeholder blocks, and a content error referring to
minecraft:glow_frame
is displayed

Review: VAIO Z (2021) is the lightest most powerful Windows laptop yet
VAIO is back with the brand-new VAIO Z for 201. A super light 14″ Ultrabook built using carbon fiber, but with the heart of a workstation, VAIO Z is unlike any other laptop on the market due to its powerful 35W Intel Core i7-11375H processor. But its exquisite and quality design comes at a very high price.
