Roaming support all around the world, or at least on the other two North American countries (Mexico and Canada), is basically a given on major carriers. However, if you use an MVNO, it might be unavailable or an expensive add-on. Mint Mobile has added free roaming in Canada, if you’re planning on venturing up north.
Mint Mobile today announced the inclusion of free roaming services for all its customers visiting Canada. This new feature, which includes unlimited talk and text, along with 3GB of high-speed data per month, is now available on all Mint Mobile plans at no additional cost. This new benefit adds to Mint Mobile’s existing perks, which include free calling to Mexico, Canada, and the UK, unlimited talk and text within the US, and access to T-Mobile’s 5G network. Mint Mobile customers traveling to Canada will receive an SMS notification confirming their free roaming coverage upon crossing the border.
This move comes as part of Mint Mobile’s ongoing efforts to enhance customer experience following its acquisition by T-Mobile. Aron North, Chief Marketing Officer of Mint Mobile, stated that this is a step towards providing an even better experience for Mint customers everywhere. We expected Mint Mobile to slowly ramp up in terms of features following the T-Mobile buyout, and it looks like that’s what’s going on at the moment.
The addition of free roaming in Canada follows the recent rollout of Scam Screener, a feature that flags potentially fraudulent calls for Mint Mobile customers. Free roaming in Canada is available now on all Mint plans, which, as you probably are aware of, start $15 per month. Existing customers will have this feature automatically added to their plans in July.
