Mobvoi should be a very familiar name to you if you’re a smartwatch enthusiast. The company is the name behind the TicWatch series, an affordable Wear OS-powered smartwatch lineup. To be honest, I know very little about the company beyond its smartwatch focus, and that’s why this product came as a surprise.
Today, Mobvoi has unveiled the TicNote. It’s a piece of AI hardware, similar to the Rabbit R1 or the Humane AI Pin, but it removes a lot of the frills and focuses on one odd function: voice recording. For those who use dictation machines or voice recorders in daily life, this is perfect, and will power up that experience while at it.
The Mobvoi TicNote Is a Voice Recorder Injected With AI Super-Serum
I don’t use my phone’s voice recorder in the average month, but when I do, I’m using it to jot down thoughts or ideas that I have for a story. My experience doesn’t mean that there aren’t thousands of people who use that feature on a daily basis, because there are. For some people, it is similar to how I use it, but for many others, it is literally a part of their workflow. And it is for people like that that the TicNote seems to exist.
Built Incredibly Sleek, So Keeping It on You Is Never a Problem
What does a dictating machine in 2025 look like? Mobvoi’s answer is a credit card. The TicNote is less than 3mm thin, weighs just 71 grams, has the same profile as any of your payment cards, and is constructed out of aluminum. Oh, and its design is MagSafe compatible, so you can just stick it to the back of a compatible phone or case. It’s hard to forget it at home that way.
Oh, and we can’t forget about that tiny little display, which makes it a lot easier to know your device’s status at any given time.
Made for Voice Recording First
The entire reason to buy the Mobvoi TicNote is that you need its voice recording capabilities. That’s its primary functionality after all. With it, you get 64GB of internal storage, which supports a total of 434 hours of recordings, though there’s also support for storing recordings to the cloud.
You can record for up to 25 hours off a full charge thanks to the 470mAh battery inside. It records files in the .WAV format.
Shadow, TicNote’s AI Agent, Is What Makes It So Compelling
We can’t talk about the TicNote without talking about Shadow, the AI agent that is built into it. That’s what makes this so different from the average dictation machine. As expected, Shadow will be able to transcribe your recordings, with the power to summarize those transcriptions or even translate them into more than 100 languages.
You can also organize your recordings into “projects”, which Shadow can use for even better context when within a project. It can give you answers to questions that you have, help you brainstorm, and even conduct research on points within your recordings. And the more you use it, the more it learns about you, making its insights into your projects even more useful.
The Pricing of the Mobvoi TicNote
The TicNote is available right away, and you can get it on Amazon or Mobvoi’s official website. Mobvoi’s TicWatch series isn’t known for unrealistic pricing, so there’s no surprise at the price tag here. It costs $159.99, which might not be bad for those who use voice recording almost daily.
The best part is, when you buy the device within the next three months, you will get three months of a Pro subscription for free.
