For months we’ve been saying that Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 3 is the best Wear OS smartwatch that you can buy thanks in part to it being the only device to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipset. Thankfully, we now have a competitor that is powered by the same processor for a more affordable price in the shape of the TicWatch E3 that will retail for $199/£179.
While the TicWatch Pro 3 isn’t exactly cheap, the TicWatch E3 aims to bring much of the same features at a more affordable price point. Slightly smaller and a tad lighter than its more expensive sibling, the TicWatch E3 also has a smaller display and battery and eschews the dual-display technology in favor of a 1.3-inch High-Density display with 360 x 360 resolution that is covered with 2.5G glass. Internally, there is the same 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, while the battery is trimmed slightly to 380mAh. The 22mm strap has a quick-release mechanism that lets you customize the smartwatch to your taste easily.
NFC connectivity is present which means that Google Pay is supported, and you’ll also find Bluetooth 5.0, IP68 water-resistance, and support for GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou for satellite navigation.
Fitness features such as SpO2 blood oxygen saturation monitoring and Vo2Max are present, as is a heart-rate sensor and gyroscope. The TicWatch E3 connects to your phone via an updated Mobvoi app, and you’ll find support for the following Tic-branded apps:
- TicOxgen: will monitor blood oxygen saturation. The app starts tracking as you start your day and gives you an indicator of your overall health
- TicZen: monitors stress by analyzing the Standard Deviation of NN intervals (SDNN), the key indicator of Heart Rate Variability (HRV). It uses TicBreathe to bring your stress levels down to normal
- TicBreathe: helps improve the heart-rate level and stress through scientific breathing methods and monitors your heart rate changes through algorithms based on their stress condition
- TicHearing: measures environmental noise between 30dB to 120 dB and determines whether it’s safe for your hearing organs and nervous system to be in the area
- TicPulse: offering heart-rate monitoring and providing advice on proper heart-rate zone based on personal information with improved heart rate monitoring
- TicSleep: now supported in Essential Mode so that it doesn’t light up and disrupt while you sleep with continuous blood oxygen saturation detection measurements
- TicCare: the new feature allows you to track the health data of multiple family members via the Mobvoi app, giving you the power to monitor the well-being of those you care about
- TicExercise: including 20 professional fitness tracking modes, TicExercise gives you more control over your health and fitness goals than ever before
You can order the TicWatch E3 smartwatch from today onwards on Amazon and Mobvoi’s online store for $199/£179.
