Motorola’s Next Big Clamshell Foldable Brings Most Of The High-End Specs You’d Expect
The Moto Razr 50 Ultra, as it is known internationally, is Motorola’s upcoming “big” clamshell foldable. If you’re looking for the high-end clamshell model in the company’s portfolio, then this is the one to go for. In the United States, you might be more familiar with this device lineup going as the Moto Razr+ series.
The Moto Razr 50 Ultra is expected to be launched sometime next month, and ahead of that, as always, the leaks have started to gush out. This leak is courtesy of the people at Smartprix along with X tipster OnLeaks, and it pretty much reveals everything that there is to know about this upcoming foldable.
The first physical leak of the device doesn’t seem to show much of a difference in design from its predecessor and seems set to retain its IPX8 water resistance. The foldable display unit will be a 6.9-inch FHD+ pOLED and the cover display will be a 3.6-inch module. The cover display will hold a dual camera setup with a 50MP primary lens and a 50MP 2x telephoto. The selfie camera is housed in a cutout in the foldable screen and will be a 32MP module.
Inside, the almost-top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip will be the engine of this smartphone, and it’ll be paired with a 12GB/256GB storage configuration (though that is simply the only one confirmed for now). You’ll also get a 4,000 mAh battery with wired and wireless charging. Of course, Android 14 is the OS of choice, and it seems Motorola is bringing the power of AI to the photo and video side of things.
Brings Only A Few Perks Above Its Predecessor, But The Launch Pricing Remains The Same
To be honest, this isn’t one of those sequel devices that is going to be a major update over the previous model. However, it seems like Motorola prioritized bringing the upgrades where it counts, so you get a newer OS and chip, as expected, but you also get a slightly bigger battery and a better dual camera setup.
Considering the phone stays at the same price as last year’s model, this isn’t anything to be sad about, because you’re getting pretty sensible upgrades. The phone is expected to launch sometime in June and it seems like the 12GB/256GB model is going to cost about $999, which is the same price the 8GB/256GB model launched last year, so that’s another perk.
Either way, we can’t wait to see the device become official, which we shouldn’t have to wait too long for by the looks of things.
