Motorola Edge 50 Pro Will Reportedly Launch In Early April

The phone will feature Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can tweak your wallpapers. You can create custom ones with text prompts and apply them to your home and lock screens. Motorola calls it “Style sync,” but it’s something we’re already familiar with on phones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 8 series—generative wallpapers.

The display is a 6.7-inch pOLED screen peaking at 2000 nits of brightness. It also has HDR10+ support and refreshes at 144Hz. This is higher than the standard 60Hz to 90Hz refresh rate and makes a noticeable difference in smoothness when performing basic to heavy tasks. The 1.5K ( 2160 x 1440) resolution offers more pixels than the average smartphone.

The display will also feature SGS eye protection. It’ll reduce eye strain and fatigue from repeatedly peering at your screen’s blue light and improve sleep. As blue light suppresses the hormone that regulates sleep, it’s worth having a phone that checks its emission.

Accurate skin tone representation with a 50MP camera

The rear camera packs a 50MP lens that’s deeply integrated with AI. More interesting, the phone’s display is Pantone validated and will accurately reproduce colors from the Pantone Matching System (PMS). It’s a uniform language in many industries for precise color consistency. In short, it makes your job easier as a mobile photographer or designer.

You’ll feel confident knowing that what you’re seeing on the screen closely resembles the shade you have in mind for a concept. Afterward, editing becomes easy, as you only need to make small adjustments. Its support for Adaptive Image stabilization also seals the deal if you have shaky hands.

Note: The Edge 50 Pro may bear a different name across regions. E.g., Edge X50 Ultra and Moto Edge+. It’s because Motorola designs phones for specific markets, unlike Apple and Google. They name their phones based on features and price ranges to target different types of customers.

Experts are already predicting its specifications

Motorola has yet to release any more information on the Edge 50 Pro’s technical specs, but experts have taken to social media to voice their expectations. Tipster Abhishek Yadav shares that the device may run the Android 14 operating system (OS) out of the box.

It’s exciting to imagine, considering Motorola doesn’t have the best update policies. We’ve seen some of its top-tier phones, like the G72, use the Android 12 or older versions. A phone that doesn’t have the newest updates misses out on interesting features and becomes easy prey for malicious entities.

Abhishek also claims the phone will bring a 4,500mAh battery with 125W fast charging, another rear camera with 13MP, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. He also says it may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

However, an older post on Motorola’s X account suggests it will be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 version (another flagship, maybe?). In a few days, we’ll know whether the Edge 50 Pro matches these expectations or not.
