Motorola Reveals The Capable Edge 50 Neo In 4 Pantone Colors

Motorola has had a good year, in my humble opinion. They drummed up a lot of hype for the Edge 50 family and when the Edge 50 Ultra, Pro, and Fusion came out, they were exceptional smartphones for the prices that they all came at. Then, there were the new Razr 40 foldables too.

The Edge 50 family might have seemed done with but that’s apparently not the case as Motorola seems to have one left in the chamber. The Motorola Edge 50 Neo is official and it seems to be a compelling smartphone, especially at its price, so let’s talk about it.

The Motorola Edge 50 Neo Brings Motorola’s New Design Language And Rather Capable Specs

The Edge 50 family seemed to be rich with a healthy selection of devices to cover most major price tiers, but it seems that Motorola wants to bless that family with a new member, in the form of the Edge 50 Neo.

The Design

The first thing that you might notice is that the Motorola Edge 50 Neo looks pretty darn good. It has a very similar design language to the other Edge 50 members, to the point where it is pretty tough to tell them apart. That’s certainly not to its detriment though, as it is one of my favorite designs out of 2024.

Motorola’s partnership with Pantone continues here, as you can get the Edge 50 Neo in four standout Pantone shades: Grisaille, Latte, Nautical Blue, and Poinciana. And just because it is so pretty doesn’t mean it’s not tough — you get IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certifications, so this is one of the toughest phones out there.

The Screen

The Motorola Edge 50 Neo totes a 6.4-inch pOLED screen that decides to forgo any curves — a flat screen, just the way that I like. It has a 120Hz maximum refresh rate with LTPO tech, 3,000-nit peak brightness, and 1220p resolution. It’s a pretty good screen; that’s the summary.

The Internal Hardware

Inside the Edge 50 Neo, the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 powers things. You can get the device specced up to 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM, which isn’t shabby for a mid-range device.

You get stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos (which you’ll see printed proudly on the upper edge of the phone).

The Battery And Charging

The Edge 50 Neo comes with a 4,310 mAh battery, which is a little small considering what we’ve started to expect in these modern times. However, even if it drains pretty quick, you get 68W fast wired charging to juice it up as quickly as possible, and 15W wireless charging if you’re not in a rush. Plus, that 68W charger comes in the box.

The Cameras

The primary camera is a 50MP unit with a Sony LYTIA 700C sensor behind it. There’s OIS and “Moto AI” to process your photos too. You also get a 10MP 3x telephoto lens with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide — the usual secondary camera setup on most mid-range smartphones. You’ll be able to record in 4K at 30fps. On the front side, you’ve got a 32MP camera.

The Pricing And Availability

The Motorola Edge 50 Neo is available if you’re looking for a smartphone to buy in Europe. In the United Kingdom, it starts at £399.99, and in the rest of Europe, that’s €499.99. You’ll be able to get it starting from today. The phone will find its way to other markets in Asia and Latin America, but North America shouldn’t expect it by the looks of things.
