Qualcomm announced its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship processor last week after which came the usual slew of press releases from smartphone brands planning on launching phones running on the new silicon. First out the gate is Motorola having unveiled its Edge X30 flagship in China earlier today, with one of its variants sporting a 60MP under-display selfie camera.
Besides being powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the Moto Edge X30 has 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The flagship phone boasts a 6.7-inch OLED display with a speedy 144Hz refresh rate, 576Hz touch sampling rate, and FHD+ resolution. The big 5,000mAh battery can be topped up in a jiffy thanks to the 68W fast charging.
The trio of rear cameras consists of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor, while the 60MP selfie camera sits in a central punch-hole cutout on the display.
Given Motorola’s current reputation for providing software updates, you’ll be glad to learn that the Moto Edge X30 runs Android 12 out of the box.
Finally, there is also a “Special Edition” of the Moto Edge X30 that sports the same hardware as the other models but its 60MP selfie camera is located under the display instead of in a punch-hole cutout on the display.
Launched in China with prices starting from around $625, the Moto Edge X30 should make its global debut under a different moniker in the relatively near future.
