A lot of mobile devices need to pass through the FCC to be certified, particularly when they have some kind of wireless technology inside them. For instance, a tracking tag falls into this category. When it comes to the industry of Android-related leaks and rumors, the FCC certification listings can give us a sneak peek into upcoming devices and that’s what has just happened.

An FCC certification today has proven that the Motorola Moto Tag is a thing, and while not providing extensive information (that concerns the consumer), it does let us in on a few things. First off, this won’t just be a Bluetooth-enabled tag, but it is also going to have UWB support, which should make it a lot better for the purposes of tracking.

At the same time, we also get let in on the fact that the tracker is going to be powered by a standard watch battery (AKA, a CR2032 battery). That’s pretty good news because it means that you’ll be able to replace the battery by yourself without needing to buy some odd proprietary replacement or look for some battery that is annoyingly hard to get your hands on.

This Is Likely Going To Be The Motorola Tracking Tag With Find My Device Support

Google made it clear that Motorola was going to be among the brands releasing tracking tags with Find My Device support and the first of those tracking tags is expected this year. It’s not confirmed that the Moto Tag is going to be that tag, but I mean, we can pretty much assume that it will be based on the timing. Motorola isn’t exactly a mainstay in the tracking tag segment after all. We’ll have to wait until the launch for confirmation on that fact though.

The Moto Tag Could Potentially Be Shown To The World On The Same Day As The Motorola Razr Devices

There’s no solid word on when the Moto Tag is expected to be released for consumers to purchase. However, I do think that we can make a guess that we’ll see it in a few days. Motorola has a launch event planned for June 25th, where the Motorola Razr 50 series is expected to be released and that would be the perfect place for the company to show off its new tag.

Fortunately, we’re only going to need to wait about three days before this theory is either proven right or wrong, and you know we’ll be here to report on it when it’s time.
