Nanoleaf’s New TV Bias Lighting Kit Is Easier to Install

Nanoleaf just unveiled an updated 4D screen mirroring and lightstrip kit at CES 2025. Compared to the original version, it has a refreshed design, better hardware, and easier installation.

Like the existing Nanoleaf 4D kit that we reviewed, the refreshed 4D V2 includes a screen mirror camera tasked with picking up whatever’s displayed on the screen. The LED lightstrip mounted on the backside of your TV takes this data to render beautiful gradients on the back and sides of the wall. The gradients dynamically match the colors of your favorite TV shows, movies, video games, and other onscreen content in real-time to great effect.

This is known as bias lighting, and it’s a great way to boost your TV entertainment experience. One of the benefits of bias lighting is illuminating the room without creating distracting glare or reflections on the screen. Nanoleaf says the latest 4D V2 kit brings three improvements: upgraded specifications, an updated design, and an easier installation process.

The lightstrip itself is now lighter and bends around the corners of your TV, meaning no corner bracket mounts are required anymore. The included camera features a more secure mount that’s longer, so it can capture even wider screens. Like before, you can trim the lightstrip to desired dimensions, and ensure privacy when not in use with the included camera cover.

The color effects can even sync across more than 50 Nanoleaf RGB lights using the Sync+ feature in the Nanoleaf app. 4D V2 works with computer monitors as well, not just TVs. However, a wiser option for PC owners would be Nanoleaf’s PC Screen Mirror Lightstrip, also unveiled at CES 2025, which plugs directly into your computer and doesn’t require a camera.

Nanoleaf also unveiled a Premium subscription ($2/month or $20/year with a free one-month trial) in the desktop app which unlocks the new Orchestrator and Scenescapes. The former creates dynamic color palettes and animates the lights based on music, while the latter brings soothing scenes like Beach or Fireplace for relaxation and focus.

Nanoleaf 4D V2 will be available to purchase sometime in the second quarter of 2025. We’re still waiting for pricing and other details to be revealed.
