New Garmin Sleep Coaching feature rumored for elevated insights

Rumors suggest that a new Garmin Sleep Coaching feature is on the way. A report by the5krunner, quoting JohnW as their source, claims that an upcoming Garmin update will enhance the existing sleep tracking features; for example, you can already see how long you were asleep and how this was split across the various sleep stages.

The Garmin Sleep Coaching tools will allow you to track your recent sleep against a personal average, particularly looking at HRV’s impact on your sleep quality. You will also be able to use the tool to track your naps, with automatic detection when you nap for over 10 minutes and use a supported device. Alternatively, you can manually log the rest on your wearable or via Garmin Connect. According to the5krunner, your sleep and nap data will be used to provide feedback and insights into the quality of your rest.

Recommendations for your sleep habits would be made based on various data points, including HRV and your activity, with suggestions to help you to keep up a routine. The report also suggests that Garmin will offer sleep recommendations within what they define as a “safe range”, though precisely what is meant here is unclear. Garmin has not officially announced this Sleep Coaching Feature, with a release date and schedule unclear. It could be that the tool debuts on the recently rumored Venu 3 smartwatches.
