Every since Wear OS was a thing, there have been countless rumors that this could be the year that Google announces its own smartwatch to complement its range of Pixel smartphones, and every year the rumors are proved wrong. Well, it’s time to strap in once again because it seems that 2022 is the year that Google finally unveils its own smartwatch running on Wear OS. Seriously.
According to Jon Prosser, the leaker that came out with last year’s prediction that the Pixel 5a had been canceled, Google’s smartwatch will make its debut on May 26th. The Pixel Watch will be Google’s first attempt at its own smartwatch and this year it may actually happen.
Really. It may actually be announced this year. Hopefully running Wear OS 3.0 and running on the latest silicon with a battery life that can be measured in full days as opposed to the usual day-and-a-half that current Wear OS watches manage.
It honestly might happen, after all, Google actually remembered that it was responsible for Wear OS during 2021 and then seemed to swiftly palm that obligation off on to Samsung and its Galaxy Watch 4 series, which are still the only devices to run on Wear OS 3.0.
