Nintendo Reveals Its Switch Bundle Deals for the Holiday Season

Nintendo has announced two Nintendo Switch bundles, giving you chance to get a Switch, a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and one year of Switch Online together for a lower price.

Nintendo confirmed that it will offer two Switch bundles for the 2024 holiday season, starting sometime in October. The first is a Nintendo Switch: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle, which includes a regular Nintendo Switch with red and blue Joy-Con controllers (normally $300), a download code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (normally $60), and a code for 12 months of a Nintendo Switch Online individual membership (normally $20). There’s also the Nintendo Switch OLED Model: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle, which swaps out the Switch for an OELD Switch.

The regular Switch bundle will cost $300, while the OLED Switch bundle will be $350. Those are the regular prices for each console, so you’re basically getting Mario Kart and a year of Switch Online at no extra cost. That’s a decent bundle, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a seven-year-old port of a 10-year-old Wii U game, and it’s already the best-selling game on the platform.

It’s worth noting that a new Nintendo Switch console is expected to be revealed early in 2025, so these won’t be the newest Switch consoles for much longer. That doesn’t mean they will become paperweights in a few months, though. The Switch has amassed a massive game library in the years since its initial 2017 release, so even if Nintendo and other publishers decide to move on from the original models relatively quickly, you’ll still have a lot of games to play. The new Switch is widely expected to be backwards-compatible with older games, and if that turns out to be true, you’ll be able to carry your game library over to the new models if you decide to upgrade.

Nintendo says the bundles will be available “in select retail stores” starting “by October,” while supplies last. Just don’t buy a Pokémon microSD card to go with it.
