Nintendo
has quietly announced the price for a few of its upcoming upgrade packs, like Kirby and The Forgotten Land and Mario Party Jamboree, and they’re much more expensive than fans could’ve imagined, both priced at $79.99.
Nintendo previously shook up the gaming sphere with the announcement of its new sliding-scale price model for Switch 2 titles. As such, Nintendo has been quietly revealing the price for some of its upcoming upgrade packs, which allow original Switch titles to be played on Switch 2 with enhanced fidelity, features, and other exclusive content.
Wait, How Much Are Nintendo Switch 2 Games?
The price for most Switch games is $59.99, except The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at $69.99. However, most Switch 2 games will cost up to $79.99, depending on the title, similar to The Forgotten Land, Mario Party, and the upcoming Mario Kart World. For example, the upcoming Switch 2 title Donkey Kong Bananza will be priced ten bucks less at $69.99. Conversely, titles released for the original Switch still have the same base price, but the $19.99 upgrade pack results in the $80 price tag.

Why Is This Pricing Method So Confusing?
While both Zelda titles are getting new features like Zelda Notes on Switch 2, The Forgotten Land’s upgrade includes fresh content too—a remixed campaign called “Star-Crossed World.” The catch? Zelda’s upgrades are bundled with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, unlike the others, which means you don’t have to pay if you have a subscription to the service.

The Switch 2 could breathe new life into these Microsoft titles.
Nintendo is using a sliding-scale pricing model for Switch 2 games. While most first-party original Switch games cost $59.99 (except for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which costs $69.99), for Switch 2, Nintendo is cranking the ceiling up to $79.99 (at least so far). Mario Kart World is also $79.99, while other games are $69.99 or even less. The game itself is still $59.99, but with the added upgrade pack at $19.99, it equals out to the same price.
After briefly setting back U.S. pre-orders, Switch 2 pre-orders went live, and more importantly, at the announced price of $449.99, bypassing tariff taxes for the time being. But the Japanese game maker has already informed consumers that demands may not be met globally, as stocks have begun to sell out overseas or orders have been canceled outright.
