Nothing has made its name in the smartphone space simply by doing things differently. That strategy doesn’t always work, especially in the smartphone space. Still, considering its CEO’s experience bringing OnePlus up against the biggest players, it’s no surprise that Nothing has managed to persist until now.
For the first time in its brief history, Nothing will release a flagship phone. Its releases up until now have been midrange or lower, and it’ll be exciting to see the company release a smartphone that can compete with the best from Google, Samsung, and others. We have a very good idea of how much it will cost too, and that’s from an official source.
Carl Pei Reveals That the Nothing Phone 3 Should Cost Around £800
The Nothing Phone 3 could be the most special entry in Nothing’s lineup since the very first Nothing Phone, because it will mark the company’s move into the flagship segment, instead of battling it out with the numerous midrange options that exist out there. While we don’t have any official details about the exact specs it will pack, we do have an official estimate on how much it is going to cost.
Carl Pei was hosted on The Android Show: I/O Edition on YouTube, and there, he made it clear that the Nothing Phone 3 is intended to cost “around £800”. I take that to mean it will either be £799 or £849—if it comes cheaper than that, I definitely won’t complain. £800 converts to $1,065, so in the US, I’m expecting a $1,000 price tag. That strongly outweighs previous Nothing devices.
Year of Release | Launch Price | |
Nothing Phone 1 | 2022 | £399 (No US Launch) |
Nothing Phone 2 | 2023 | $599 |
Nothing Phone 2a | 2024 | $349 |
Nothing Phone 2a Plus | 2024 | $399 |
Nothing Phone 3a | 2025 | $379 |
Nothing Phone 3a Pro | 2025 | $459 |
Nothing is a company that does things in its own way. It has a massive focus on design (though I don’t necessarily think that equates to “good” design, Phone 3a Pro is anything to judge by. The Nothing Phone 3 will almost certainly look unique, and I’m excited to learn more about it.
Expect the Device to Arrive in One of the Summer Months, Which Means Soon
We don’t have an exact date to expect the Nothing Phone 3, but we know that it is going to arrive soon. Nothing says it is coming in “Summer 2025”, which starts next month. Carl Pei says that you can expect the phone to come with “premium materials, major performance upgrades, and software that really levels things up”. Let’s try to break that down.
- Premium Materials: The Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 already had glass backs and aluminum frames. That’s premium enough for most brands. Considering a titanium frame is the only likely way the material bill can be upgraded, I’ll assume the phrase “premium materials” is just marketing.
- Major Performance Upgrades: This is probably the section where we can speculate for ages, but I’m going to be hopeful and say we will likely get the Snapdragon 8 Elite here. Phones in the $1,000 price bracket have had it, so there’s no reason to think it is beyond Nothing’s power.
- Software That Levels Up: It’s hard to speculate on this, but the one aspect that remains consistent is that we will see new AI-powered features built into the OS. As long as they’re not too gimmicky, that’s nothing to complain about.
