Nubia’s RedMagic 6S Pro packs in a Snapdragon 888+, a 165Hz display, and an RGB-lit fan for $599

Nubia is once again bringing the heat to the gaming smartphone segment with the announcement of its new RedMagic 6S Pro that is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888+ chipset and an affordable $599 price tag. Promising an uptick in performance as well as Nubia’s ICE 7.0 cooling system with Phase Change Materials (PCM), the RedMagic 6S Pro looks to take the fight to ASUS’ ROG Phone 5S gaming smartphones.

We recently reviewed the RedMagic 6R that brought mobile gaming smarts to the mainstream, and now the updated RedMagic 6S Pro brings a few additional tweaks to improve things still further. You’ll find the option of having a transparent rear panel with an RGB-lit internal for added gaming credit, and there’s also a new mappable touchpad area called “M Key” that allows users to customize one or two actions via sliding across the key.

Available in 12/128GB and 16/256GB variants, the RedMagic 6S Pro’s 6.8-inch AMOLED display boasts a 165Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling, and even the shoulder triggers on the back of the phone have been bumped up to 450Hz touch sampling which brings the latency down to just 8.3ms. A seventh-generation under-display fingerprint sensor is present which also supports heart rate detection.

The same cameras that were present on the RedMagic 6 Pro are present on the 6S Pro, consisting of a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor, which should result in serviceable imagery but nothing more than that. An 8MP camera sits on the top bezel of the display which means you have the entire panel available.

A 5,050mAh battery keeps the lights on and while 66W fast charging is supported, you’ll find a 30W charger in the box which is something of a disappointment. Other notable features include NFC, dual nano-SIM slots, an audio jack, with the phone running RedMagic OS 4.0 which is based on Android 11.

The RedMagic 6S Pro will go on sale in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and parts of South America with availability from Sept 27 on the official RedMagic website :
