Nvidia might already be working on a future generation of AI-focused GPUs, codenamed Rubin

Despite very little information about Nvidia’s upcoming next-generation Blackwell GPU, there already seems to be plans for the generation after that, according to a new report.

The information comes from TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, (reported on by TechPowerUp). These new R100 chips have been codenamed Rubin (named after astronomer Vera Rubin). They’re mainly focused on lowering the power draw, as high-end Blackwell GPUs are already reaching the highest kilowatt range and can’t keep increasing.
