In January, we saw the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24, Honor Magic 6, and OnePlus 12 families of devices. Back then, I thought that was enough to classify as a busy launch month but that was only because we were yet to get to October.
With the confirmation of flagship launches from two more major manufacturers, it has become very evident that October is likely to close off the year as the busiest month for smartphones. If you’re in the market for a new device, you might want to wait until October concludes for the widest variety.
Xiaomi, Honor, And Vivo’s October Launch Dates All Hinted At By A Reliable Leaker
October was bound to be a busy month simply by virtue of the two largest smartphone chip manufacturers choosing to release their new flagship chips this month. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will both be revealed in full in just a matter of weeks. Of course, with those SoCs being fresh off the presses, a lot of manufacturers are planning to be some of the first to use them.
With word from a pretty reliable leaker on Weibo, it seems that the launch dates for the Xiaomi, Honor, and Vivo flagships are now known. The Vivo X200 series is confirmed through Vivo to launch on the 14th, the Xiaomi 15 series on the 20th (or the 23rd, via an earlier leaked graphic), and the Honor Magic 7 series coming in at the last minute, on the 30th.
Every single one of these is a flagship series, so if you’re in the market for a new phone, it’d be a good idea to wait and see what’s in store. Regardless of how it goes though, it is essentially certain that there’s going to be plenty of power across the board.
OnePlus and Oppo Are Also Expected To Be Releasing In October
But wait, there’s more! These aren’t the only smartphones that are strongly expected to launch in October.
A OnePlus exec essentially confirmed on Weibo that the OnePlus 13 is expected to launch this month. Personally, that’s my most anticipated of the bunch since the leaks have hinted at the device being an absolute monster and there’s nothing I love more than some good competition.
On top of that, Oppo’s Find X8 series is on the way too, with the Dimensity 9400 coming in at least the vanilla model. That’s another major release that is all but confirmed for October, totaling five major flagship series that we can expect to see show up in October. I guess that’s why they call it Techtober.
Every Single One Of Those Releases Could Potentially Be China-Only, At Least For Now
Before you get way too excited though, I’d say that you dial it back for just a second. Every single one of these launches is coming from a Chinese manufacturer and if things go the way that they usually do, they might initially be exclusive to China.
However, we know for a fact that the OnePlus 13 will eventually be released internationally, and there’s a very good chance the Honor Magic 7 and Oppo Find X8 series will follow suit a few months later.
