Office, storage possible for site on ParkCenter near Apple St.

A long-empty piece of land along ParkCenter Blvd. in Boise could see something new.

Last month, a developer held a pre-application meeting with the City of Boise to discuss concepts for a four-story building that would include office space and storage. The site is located at 787 E ParkCenter Blvd., between an Idaho Central Credit Union branch and Axiom Fitness.

The plans presented are inconsistent, with a rendering showing a three-story building and rough floorplans depicting a four-story building. Pre-application meetings don’t always move forward to the formal application stage.

The site is owned by ParkCenter Lots, LLC, which is controlled by Shannon Cook of Eagle, according to Ada County property records. Cook was a partner in the entity that purchased Axiom from the wife of the late former Micron CEO Steve Appleton in 2017.

Earlier this year, VillaSport purchased the Axiom chain, but property records show the entity controlled by Cook still owns the land under the ParkCenter Axiom, as well as the empty lots next door.

A 1990s plan for the property showed a vastly different plan for the site, with a large headquarters for Regence BlueShield of Idaho and several office buildings. Ultimately, Appleton built a large Gold’s Gym location on the site in 1994, with an Idaho Central Credit Union opening in 2010. Between the two buildings, a dirt and gravel area has remained, used partially for overflow gym parking and partially undeveloped.
