OneOdio’s OpenRock Pro earbuds are a great open ear alternative that utilise air conduction technology
OneOdio’s OpenRock Pro released a wide range of headphones last year, catering to different types of music listeners. Now they are looking to start this year strong by adding a completely new device to their already diverse headphones.
Having designed headphones for casual listeners, audiophiles and even professional DJs, OneOdio has now set its sights on gym goers and fitness enthusiasts with their new OpenRock Pro earbuds.
The OpenRock Pro are air-conducting earbuds which means they work by sending sound waves through the air and into the ear. As this is the main feature of the earbuds, OneOdio hasn’t included any ear plugs meaning the speakers will sit just on top of the user’s ears.
Normally earbuds will be able to sit firmly in the user’s ears with the help of ear plugs but since the OpenRock Pro forgoes this feature, they have ergonomic ear hooks that allow the earbuds to stay secure.
The OpenRock Pro’s design also allows them to be adjusted at different angles for the best listening experience. During my time with earbuds, they were secure at all times even during vigorous workouts and due to their lightweight build, they were very comfortable for long periods of use.
The earbuds aren’t designed with touch controls which isn’t always a deal breaker and in this case, OneOdio has included two multifunction buttons.
These buttons work in sync granting the user controls required during voice calls and music listening. It can be a little confusing to remember how many button presses correspond to the designated function.
It comes with an IPX5 rating meaning it isn’t fully waterproof but will be protected against sweat, rain and dust meaning it’s well-suited for sports and outdoor activities. But just don’t go swimming or diving with them.
The earbuds come built with 16.2mm dynamic drivers that work alongside OneOdio’s TubeBass technology to enhance the air conduction experience. They have a frequency range of 20Hz – 20kHz but the TubeBass technology is said to boost the low-frequency bass. I found the OpenRock Pro produced admirable audio quality and I was very impressed with the bass that you don’t normally get with open earbuds.
The earbuds can be connected using Bluetooth 5.2 but what’s more impressive is that they also feature aptX Audio Decoding technology which is fantastic as it helps to reduce audio distortion. Playback was very clear at all times, but I did experience some lag when watching movies and playing games, but it was minimal.
The OpenRock Pro has four noise-cancelling microphones that try to eliminate most of the background noise. However, I found that there was a lot of background noise leaking through which made calls very hard, even in less crowded places.
The dual noise-cancelling microphones that are included also eliminate background environmental noises so that the voice can be heard by others clearly.
The OpenRock Pro has an amazing battery life, lasting for up to 19 hours when the volume is between 65%-70%. Alongside the charging case, the earbud’s battery life skyrockets to 46 hours which is amazing.

OneOdio’s OpenRock Pro is one of the best-sounding open earbuds on the market, with the TubeBass technology really boosting the overall sound quality, adding that needed an extra level of bass.
