Next year is sure to kick off with a bang as OnePlus prepares to globally launch the OnePlus 13 series and OnePlus Buds Pro 3 in January 7, 2025. Already, the OnePlus 13 phones have been announced in China. Now, both devices will make fine appearances in Midnight Ocean and Arctic Dawn.
The launch will happen at an event in Covent Garden, London, where you can score special offers, prizes, and gifts. It’ll happen at 1 PM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and marks OnePlus’ 11th anniversary.
It’s a happy birthday to OnePlus in January 2025
Eleven years ago, OnePlus began with the goal of making great phones that not only work well, but also look good. Now, they are launching the OnePlus 13 Series in three colors: Black Eclipse, Arctic Dawn, and Midnight Ocean. Each model comes with a unique design. The Midnight Ocean version uses a scratch-resistant vegan leather material, while the Arctic Dawn version has a smooth glass coating that’s fingerprint resistant.
OnePlus doesn’t talk specifically on the Arctic Black variant. But without a doubt, it’ll deliver a premium finish as well with a high-quality material that complements its worth. What matters most is the specifications, and so far, there’s much to anticipate.
The water and dust resistance have left impressions. The IP68 and IP69 ratings represent two distinct and high levels of protection against water and dust. The phone should be able to withstand water jets sprayed from multiple angles at pressures ranging from 80 to 100 bar and temperatures up to 80°C. For the OnePlus 13 to have both in one piece of hardware shows exceptional resilience.

OnePlus 13 brings OxygenOS 13 and AI
The OnePlus 13 will also come with the latest Android 15 preinstalled. In this case, that’s OxygenOS 15 with advanced AI support, including Intelligent Search where you can browse through your files with prompts, so that you don’t have to open them individually.
AI capabilities also extend to the Buds Pro 3 where you now get AI translation in collaboration with the OnePlus 13 series. If it’s anything like the TimeKettle W4 Pro, imagine yourself breaking language barriers. When you’re in a situation where other parties speak a different language, the Buds Pro captures the speaker’s voice and processes it in real time. Then it translates the speech into your preferred language, and plays it back into your ears.
Personally, I have concerns about distractions. The idea of hearing someone speak in one language and then immediately having the translation in your ear is quite jarring. There’s also the concern with delay that could interrupt the flow of the conversation. Hopefully, the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) does its part and isolates speaker voices and OnePlus balances these factors.

You could be a OnePlus 13 winner
Sometimes, it pays to be an early bird. If you’re among the first 20 people in line at the OnePlus 13 launch event, you’ll receive both the OnePlus Buds Pro 3 and a branded backpack filled with prizes. If you’re not among them, you still have a chance to get the filled backpack.
Queues are the ultimate test of endurance, and perhaps, that’s OnePlus’ requirement for you to get your backpack and earbuds. They emphasize making sure to stay in the event queue, since the rewards are on a first-come basis. If you leave and try to return, you’ll have to join the back of the line and risk missing your gifts.
Finally, only one OnePlus 13 phone will be available per market for the giveaway. That means just one person in each market will win the phone, and it could be you. Ahead of the event, OnePlus has already shared the rules on their official website.
