Before you stump up the cash for Netflix’s Premium plan along with a 4K television so that you can watch Army of the Dead in all its glory, you should probably check to see if you can stream content in Ultra High-Definition, right? Well, before you go splashing the cash you may want to check out Ookla’s new Video Testing feature in its app on your handset or tablet to measure the quality of your streaming experience.

    Optimize your online video experience

Taking a video test will give you valuable information to help you optimize your video streaming experience. Here are some examples of what you can do with Speedtest video testing:

    • Find out whether your network is giving you the expected video quality playback
    • Get recommendations for which devices will work best for video on your network
    • Compare historical streaming experiences to your current network performance with the test result history
    • Investigate potential outages of the services you are trying to use with Ookla’s Downdetector if you find that you are unable to stream your video even when the test finds that your video streaming quality meets or exceeds the resolution supported by your device

You can find the video testing featuring in Ookla’s Speedtest app, and all you’ll need to do is tap the Video tab on the menu bar, after which the video test will commence. This will take around a minute during which a series of short videos will play at increasing resolutions, after which you’ll receive the results of the test, including maximum resolution, load time, buffering percentage, and suggested devices to stream video on at that performance level.

If you don’t already have Ookla’s Speedtest app installed on your phone, you can download it from the Play Store link below:
