Oppo has been doing an excellent job drumming up hype for its upcoming foldable, the Oppo Find N5. It also doesn’t hurt that those interested in the OnePlus Open 2 know that the Find N5 will likely serve as a template. I’m not sure I’m ready to join the foldable squad, but if there was ever a phone to bring me close to it, it might be the Oppo Find N5.
Pete Lau, the CEO of Oppo, has just given us a little more insight into what we can expect with the imminent device. We already know it’ll be the thinnest foldable ever, but now we also know that its display crease will almost be invisible. Compared to the Z Fold 6, there is a night and day difference.
The Oppo Find N5 Might Have the Most Inconspicious Crease in Foldable History
A few things make me relatively hesitant about making my next smartphone a foldable. One of those reasons is the foldable screen. It’s cool, but because it has to do with a screen on a regular bar phone can’t, it comes with some compromises. For one, the actual screen isn’t as durable since it can’t use regular glass. And of course, there’s that relatively hideous crease that foldables have been aiming to get rid of.
The display crease has been getting less and less noticeable over the years, but for the most part, it is still there. However, with an image of the Oppo Find N5 that was officially released by Pete Lau, the CEO of Oppo, it looks like this generation of foldables might be the one where creases are no longer a worry for us.
The Oppo Find N5 was placed beside the Galaxy Z Fold 6, with both devices fully unfolded. Quite honestly, beside the Oppo, the crease on the Samsung looks ridiculously deep. You can spot that the Oppo still has a crease, but it’s the kind that you’ll feel a lot more than you’ll see, and that’s a win in its own way. It’s as minimal as I’ve ever seen before.
The Oppo Find N5 Is Launching in Two Weeks; The OnePlus Open 2 Will Follow Sometime After
The Oppo Find N5 is coming out this month. In fact, we can pinpoint it a bit more and say that it’ll be launching in two weeks, according to Oppo on Weibo. That should mean a launch date of February 20th. However, that’s a guess and it is a little annoying not having a date that’s more precise than that.
Besides knowing that the device is going to have a very minimal crease, we also know that it will take the crown of the thinnest foldable in the world, which is very exciting. What makes the Oppo Find N5 even more interesting is that it could potentially be 1:1 with the OnePlus Open 2—if the Find N3 and OnePlus Open’s system is followed. The OnePlus model should release at some point soon afterward; hopefully in March.
