Oppo Find X8 Pro Review:

After a brief hiatus, Oppo has returned to Western markets with a bang! The Find X8 Pro is a powerful flagship phone ready to challenge Samsung and Google’s dominance. With its cutting-edge camera system, massive battery, and sleek design, the Find X8 Pro is a serious contender.

In this review, we put the Find X8 Pro through its paces to see what it brings to the table.

Design

As a huge fan of the Find X7 Ultra’s distinctive vegan leather and metal finish, I’ll admit that I’m somewhat disappointed that Oppo saw fit to provide the new Find X8 Pro with a relatively normal rear panel aesthetic. The Space Black doesn’t stand out much, but the Pearl White colorway has a vibrant personality. Backing this up is Oppo’s statement that no Pearl White Find X8 Pro will have exactly the same pattern; this is due to the intricacies of the production process, which makes it impossible to produce identical designs.

Something else that differentiates the Find X8 Pro is the addition of the ‘Quick Button,’ which can be used to operate the camera shutter, zoom, and more. We’ll get to this later in the review.

The Find X8 Pro also has an alert slider, which is on the opposite edge of the power button and volume rocker.

Thanks to the micro-curved display, the Find X8 Pro is comfortable to hold and lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra despite the much larger battery.

Hardware

Performance

MediaTek’s top-of-the-line Dimensity 9400 processor powers the Find X8 Pro (just like the Vivo X200 Pro), and there are no wrinkles in terms of flagship performance, whether gaming, multitasking, or snapping photos.

The AMOLED display is excellent, and as other flagships have shown recently, direct sunlight is not an issue. The ultra-sonic fingerprint is as accurate and speedy, with very few misreads experienced.

While we don’t place much stock in benchmarks as they don’t reflect real-world usage, we have run the Find X8 Pro through a couple for your enjoyment. For clarification, the phone is in normal mode; we do not enable performance mode when benchmarking.

Battery

Unsurprisingly, battery life on the Find X8 Pro is pretty good, with upwards of 13 hours of screen time with regular usage. That ‘regular’ usage consists of accessing emails, browsing, YouTube videos during lunch, 4-5 hours of Spotify, and, of course, frequent logging in to Age of Origins.

Those with long-haul flights in their future will be glad to learn that Oppo’s finest will achieve over 17 hours of video playback.

When the 5,910mAh battery does run out, though, you’ve got 80W SuperVOOC wired charging on hand. It takes 53 minutes to reach full capacity, and a 30-minute charge gets the phone to around 70%.

Wireless charging is also supported with speeds of up to 50W; if you have earbuds that support the technology, 10W reverse wireless charging is also present.

It’s not the fastest wired charging speed we’ve ever seen, but it’s still lightyears ahead when you look at Samsung and Google. That being said, we’d expect Oppo to move forward with increased charging speeds for the next generation of Find X flagships.

Software

It’s been a little while since we reviewed an Oppo handset, but at that time, we saw the merging of ColorOS and OxygenOS, which simplified and improved the use of resources from the pair of BKK brands. In terms of support, Oppo promises 5 OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches, which is decent.

Based on Android 15, ColorOS 15 features a tweaking of the quick setting buttons, and, as is expected in 2025, a ton of customization options are available to make the Find X8 Pro unique.

We also expect to hear about AI in 2025—and here, the Find X8 Pro is on point with numerous mentions, including Google’s Circle to Search, the Gemini Assistant, and the AI Toolbox.

The AI Toolbox is a collection of AI features aimed at making your daily life easier to navigate. No, it’s not going to supervise the kids when you are busy, but it will condense and read text out loud and even attempt to write text for you. As with most things AI at the moment, your mileage will vary with regard to the results. In my experience, shorter texts resulted in more accurate results.

Many AI-based editing features are available in the gallery app, such as AI Eraser, AI Ultra Clarity, and AI Unblur.

If you’ve used ColorOS over the past couple of years, you’ll be familiar with the general look and feel of ColorOS 15.

With the days of ‘Stock’ Android being behind us now that Google offers an increasingly feature-rich software experience, custom OS overlays such as ColorOS shouldn’t be scoffed at.

Camera

It may not be the Ultra, but the Find X8 Pro goes heavy on the camera department with not one but a pair of telephoto cameras, which are accompanied by an ultra-wide and a regular wide-angle lens, all of which sport 50 megapixels. All of the rear cameras except the ultra-wide lens support OIS.

The first telephoto lens supports 3x optical zoom with 73mm focal length, while the second is capable of 6x optical zoom with a 135mm focal length.

In terms of the main lens, which will be the most commonly used by default, images offer great clarity, detail, and vibrancy without being oversaturated. With the Find X8 Pro, there’s no reason to take a second shot; the shutter is quick, and the scene is captured in an instant.

Using the full-resolution function doesn’t seem to offer much more in terms of additional detail, but the default offers plenty already.

The 6x telephoto lens is best for close-up imagery, with a minimum focus distance of around 30cm. The colors are good, but depending on lighting conditions, there can be a little haziness at times.

Night or low-light conditions are no match for the Find X8 Pro, which manages to create light where there is little without making the whole image look like it’s taken at midday instead of midnight.

Whether it’s furballs, food, buildings, or selfies, the Find X8 Pro does it all with aplomb. There are few negatives, and even the ultra-wide lens packs a punch.

The Camera Button

I’m not a fan of the camera button, in all honesty. It may be my sausage fingers, the sensitivity of the control, or perhaps a combination of the two, but my experience with the camera button didn’t make shooting pictures easier. If anything, it seemed to make them worse.

I ended up pretending that it wasn’t there, and my camera experience on the Find X8 Pro improved immeasurably.

Verdict

As the first flagship to launch powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset, the Find X8 Pro is a well-rounded device that hits the right notes in virtually every department. One feature that wouldn’t be missed though, is the camera button. I hate it.

With a unique finish in Pearl White, Oppo’s Find X8 Pro is jam-packed with the features you need and the power required to run them smoothly. It offers next-gen water resistance in the form of IP69 protection, a very bright display, and, of course, possibly the best Android camera setup of 2025, at least until the Pixel 10 series comes out.

Sure, you can wait until Oppo unleashes the Find X8 Ultra later this year, but that’s likely to be exclusive to China, like its predecessor.
