Having nailed it with the Find X7 Ultra, which was sadly restricted to China, Oppo is headed back to Western markets with the new Find X8 Series. Powered by the latest MediaTek silicon, the Find X8 Pro promises to take the fight to the Galaxy S24 Ultra in virtually every department, with the obvious exception of a stylus.
Now that the nasty spat with Nokia has finally been resolved, Oppo’s return to European markets begins in earnest with the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro handsets.
I’ve been looking forward to getting my hands on Oppo’s newest phones, having been a huge fan of the Find X2 Pro with its gorgeous vegan leather finish.
Unlike the Find X7 series, which sports a distinctive vegan leather and metal finish on the rear panel, the Find X8 Pro features Pearl White and Space Black colorways. If you covet uniqueness when purchasing a smartphone, then the Find X8 Pro in Pearl White is the option for you because Oppo says that no two handsets will appear the same, thanks to the multi-layered texture of the colorway. Both colors resist fingerprints and smudges and meet the metallic frame.
The slightly less obtrusive circular camera housing with the Hasselblad logo sports four cameras, with an LED flash located outside of it in the top left corner.
You’ll find microphones and an IR blaster on the top edge, and on the right edge, there’s a volume rocker and power button.
On the left-hand edge, you’ll find the alert slider and a new ‘Quick Button’ further down, which we’ll cover in the full review.
Other design features to note include a mostly flat display with micro curves to improve comfort when holding the phone.
Having already been released in China, Oppo will launch the Find X8 Pro in Paris on November 21st, after which we’ll know more details on pricing and availability.
For the moment, we can say that it looks and feels like a top flagship phone with a premium finish, with loads of AI stuff to explore. In the coming weeks, we’ll have more to say about the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro.
