Pawport’s New Smart Pet Door Has Sensors and Remote Control

Pawport, a tech startup from Phoenix, has announced updates to its smart pet door system at CES 2025, complete with a two-door system and new accessories.

The original version was announced at CES 2024, and this new model includes an outside companion door that works together with the smart door on the inside. The doors are made of strong powder-coated steel and aluminum and have dual deadbolts with built-in tamper alarms for added security.

The Pawport Smart Pet Door can be added to your home if you already have a pet door. However, the new Outdoor Pet Door and Tunnel System is meant for new builds or remodels. This system needs to be professionally installed along with the Smart Pet Door. These two doors help keep out intruders, pests, and cold air.

The Pawport system uses a light, waterproof smart collar tag for your pet. This tag opens the door automatically when your pet is close and moving, which helps stop other animals from coming in or going out. You can manage the system with the Pawport app, which lets you control it remotely, set curfews, schedule times, and use voice commands with Alexa, Siri, or Google. The app also tracks your pet’s activity, notifies you when they enter or leave, and gives insights about how much time they spend outside and their overall activity levels.

The pet door can run on an optional rechargeable battery, so it continues to work during power outages and doesn’t need WiFi or AC power. Additionally, you can use a USB-C plug, an optional hard-wire kit, or a solar panel to extend battery life. The built-in LED lights can be managed through the app, allowing you to change their color and brightness, as well as set schedules for when they turn on and off.

The company has 13 different finishes available in three collections: Standard, Designer, and Signature, each available at various prices and styles. The Standard Series is the cheapest option, featuring a steel frame and plastic doors with a painted surface. The Designer and Signature Series are built with stronger materials, using steel frames and tough aluminum doors for better security.

The Designer Series comes in scratch-resistant finishes in both neutral and vibrant colors, while the Signature Series has a textured look that resembles natural wood and is designed to fit various home styles. Pawport and its accessories will be available in early 2025, with prices for the Smart Pet Door starting at $499 on the official website.
