Pokémon TCG Pocket
TCG Pocket launched in late 2024 and has seen massive success since, reaching 100 million downloads in February, regularly adding new expansions, which come with new booster packs containing new cards.
The expansions have gone sort of out of order, featuring Gen 3 and Gen 4 prior to the addition of Pokémon Sun and Moon expansion packs. The new expansion booster packs arrive at the end of April, along with a new half-anniversary event featuring exclusive cards.

A new limited-time event starts the same day
Announced in a trailer on YouTube (embeded above), the Pokémon TCG Pocket Celestial Guardians expansion arrives on April 29 at 11 PM PT. The new expansion includes two booster packs, the Lunala version and Solgaleo version, which will contain different cards from the Alola region. There are over 200 new cards in this expansion, featuring the starters, the legendary Pokémon on the card packs, and Alola region cards, like an Alolan Raichu EX shown off in the trailer.
Two of the new immersive cards–ultra-rare art cards that have mini cutscenes in-game of their full art–which includes Alolan Marowak and the first immersive supporter card of Lillie, who provides 60 healing to any stage 2 Pokémon during battle.
In addition to the new expansion, there will also be a month-long half-year anniversary event, which runs during the month of May. It starts with a solo battle event, featuring bonus card booster packs, with Regal Rayquaza EX being the rarest card in the promo pack. The solo battles run through May 12, after which special missions will come to the game. These special missions unlock exclusive rewards, like a full-art version of Rayquaza EX.
In the past, once a bonus promo card event had ended, the cards have not become available again. While that could change in the future, you may want to grab any promo cards you are interested in before the event ends. The special bonus missions run until May 28, giving you about a month to complete them, assuming they go live at the start of the event.
For anyone looking to maximize the amount of Celestial Guardians Pokémon TCG Pocket they get, you receive two free packs per day in game, one every 12 hours. You can earn hourglasses in game, which can reduce the wait for another free pack, but you can also get more via purchases. There is a subscription for $10 per month, which gets you one extra pack per day, along with special missions and access to an exclusive shop.
On top of that, you can purchase the packs using Gold, the paid currency in-game, if you really need to maximize the amount of digital packs you are ripping. You can also earn more hourglasses in-game by completing solo missions and leveling up from PvP battles.
The Pokémon Company recently announced that it plans to remove Trade Tokens from the game by fall 2025, allowing players to use Shine Dust for trades instead, reducing the number of currencies in Pokémon TCG Pocket by one.
