Chinese consumer electronics company Honor has collaborated with Porsche Design to further elevate its award-winning flagship smartphone with the HONOR Magic V2 RSR.
The name RSR is short for “RennSport Rennwagen” (translating to “sports racing car”). Infused with Porsche’s motorsports DNA, the design of the limited-edition Magic V2 is modeled after the Porsche 911, featuring aerodynamic curves, an “Agate Grey” finish, and a camera island resembling the headlights from the iconic sportscar. Included in the box is a complete starter pack, featuring 2 chargers, 2 USB cables, an active stylus with a leather carrying pouch, and a co-branded leather case for the phone.
As the thinnest inward foldable phone on the market, measuring just 9.9mm thick in its folded state and 4.7mm when unfolded, the Magic V2 RSR is remarkably light, weighing just 234 grams thanks to its use of premium materials such as its titanium camera frame and hinges. Within the compact package is a 5000mAh battery which easily lasts the day with extended use, and two OLED displays protected by the industry’s first anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield. Other notable mentions include the fingerprint reader integrated into the side-mounted power button and the phone’s crisp “IMAX Enhanced” stereo speakers.
With the camera being a deciding factor for any phone of today, a great deal of attention was put into the Magic V2 RSR’s triple rear camera system. Included in the camera island is a 50MP Main Camera (f/1.9) with Optimized Image Stability (OIS), a 20MP Telephoto Lens Camera (f/2.4) with OIS, and a 50MP Ultra-wide Camera (f/2.0). Several camera modes are supported including High-Res, Watermark, Document Scan, Night, and Aperture, offering different customisation options for any occasion. Both rear and front cameras support 4K resolution, and its foldable design allows users to use the better-equipped rear cameras for selfies. Honor has also developed its own algorithms for AI motion sensing and offers face-tuning sliders which act as targeted filters.
Overall, I found the Honor Magic V2 RSR to be a great all-in-one device for everyday use, especially for those who work on the go or like mobile gaming. The device looks and feels premium, befitting the Porsche Design name, and is paired with an equally impressive smooth and snappy interface. While doubling as a tablet, it fits comfortably in the pocket and is just as quick and robust as standalone devices on the market, powered by the latest Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform with 16GB RAM and 1TB internal memory.
It’s exciting to see how far we’ve come with foldable phones, which are now fully refined and becoming a new norm. For those who are willing to pay extra for the design and prestige, the Honor Magic V2 RSR is currently the pinnacle, setting the stage for the future.
The Honor Magic V2 RSR is now available for HK$17,999.00.
