PSA #2: Some older Roku streaming units will cease to support Netflix from December 1st

Fast on the heels of Netflix announcing that it would stop supporting selected Samsung Smart TV’s in Canada and the US from December 1, it seems that there are a bunch of older Roku streaming devices facing the same issue on the very same date. We’ve got the list of affected devices for you after the break.

According to Digital Trends, the affected Roku devices include the following models:

  • Roku 2050X
  • Roku 2000C
  • Roku SD Player
  • Roku XD Player
  • Roku 2100X
  • Roku HD Player
  • Roku XR Player

“Due to technical limitations, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after December 1st, 2019. Please visit netflix.com/compatibledevices for a list of available devices.”

That’s seven models in total that will lose access to Netflix from December 1, meaning that, just like the affected Samsung Smart TV owners, you’ll have three options to consider. First, you can cancel your Netflix subscription altogether. If that isn’t appealing, you’ll need to either buy a new streaming unit or check if you can watch Netflix on your Smart TV (if you have one). If you can’t or you don’t, you’ll need to either go with option two or snag a bargain TV deal during Black Friday.

Let us know in the comments below which option appeals the most.
