Public beta 3 for macOS Sequoia 15.1, iPadOS 18.1 adds these new features


Public beta users, a new beta is rolling out now. This latest public beta 3 update is available for macOS Sequoia 15.1, iPadOS 18.1, and more. Here’s what’s new in today’s releases.

Apple’s new public beta updates arrive ahead of an expected wide release in just a few weeks—likely on October 28.

The main focus of these releases is Apple Intelligence. The first set of AI features is included as part of iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1.

On Macs and iPads with the M1 chip or later, users can expect AI features like:

Beyond these AI features, another highlight of these updates is support for drag and drop with iPhone Mirroring. The feature was first introduced in the last public beta and offers a compelling new method of file sharing.

iPadOS 18.1 receives some enhancements to Control Center today, including:

  • new standalone toggles for AirDrop and Satellite
  • two additional controls related to the Measure app: Measure and Level

There are also new iPad splash screens highlighting Apple Intelligence features coming in Mail, and natural language search in the App Store. Plus a new way to share Apple Music content to TikTok.

Sleep apnea detection, which has already been available to watchOS 11 users, has now been added in the latest iOS 18.1 beta.

If you have an iPhone running the latest iOS 18.1 beta, and the new watchOS 11.1 beta, you’ll get a notification if possible sleep apnea is detected.

Otherwise, you’ll find a variety of design and interface tweaks and bug fixes in today’s releases.
