Rangers have apparently set a new “record” in the world of cryptocurrency as 20m units of the Rangers Fan Token sold out in “less than a minute”.
The Gers launched the tokens as part of a partnership with Turkish cryptocurrency business Bitci and follow in the footsteps of the likes of the Brazilian and Spanish national teams, Real Betis and Wolves in doing so.

According to the Bitci Global Twitter account, the Rangers Fan Token sold out “within seconds.
According to a leading sales director connected to Bitci, the rate at which Rangers fans or other investors snapped up the coins is a “record” in the world of crypto.
“Another record from Rangers Football Club, but this time in crypto world!” wrote Infront Sports sales director Selçuk Oda on his official LinkedIn account.
“20M Rangers Fan Token from €0.15 sold out in less than a minute at Bitci today.

“Thank you for your trust Scott Williams Greig McCallum to our project with Onur Altan Tan and Phil Hardman from Day 1.
“Lovely to see this success story after a 7/24 hard work all together! This is just the beginning of a new era in blockchain world!”
Oda claims that 20m of Fan Token was snapped up at a price of €0.15 euros per token.
That means that as part of the initiative €3m or £2.5m has been raised as per the Fan Tokens which will be used for a range of “money can’t buy experiences”.
Rangers attempts at promoting plans for the Fan Token’s release appears to have worked with the club going into greater detail regarding what purchasing the coins will mean.
“By purchasing the Rangers Fan Token, you will be able to support the club commercially, as well as the opportunity to take part in a series of interactive club polls and to win money can’t buy gifts and experiences,” reads a Rangers statement.
“The fan token will also be listed on Bitci’s exclusive cryptocurrency platform allowing owners to buy and sell the fan tokens, which will fluctuate in value according to market demand.”
There will be plenty more to come from this partnership we’re sure with one Ibrox insider even claiming the deal was worth an initial £1.5m to the Ibrox club.
