Raycast launches iOS app, its first expansion beyond the Mac

Raycast is a powerful Mac app that’s grown increasingly popular since its launch a few years ago. Now, for the first time, Raycast is available on iPhone too via the just-launched iOS app. Here are the details.

Raycast’s iOS app focuses on a handful of core features

If you’ve used Raycast on the Mac, you know that it’s a powerful tool that can’t necessarily be replicated on iPhone.

That’s due to sandboxing restrictions that apply on iOS, but not macOS.

But the team at Raycast has launched an iPhone app nonetheless.

At launch, these features are supported:

  • AI Chat with dozens of models for spot-on answers to any task
  • Notes to capture ideas the moment they strike
  • Quicklinks for one-tap access to your key resources
  • Snippets and templates to keep shipping wherever you are
  • Cloud Sync for seamless hand-off across all your Apple devices

Due to current iPhone restrictions, Raycast for iOS cannot replace Spotlight as a launcher, like it does on macOS.

But Raycast’s team believes this initial app version still offers enough utility for Mac users who want access to some of the app’s core features on the go.

Additionally, the following new features are on the company’s initial roadmap:

  • Add a custom keyboard to access AI Commands and Snippets wherever you type
  • Catch up with AI features from the Mac such as Reasoning, LaTex, AI Extensions, etc.
  • Combine voice input and AI support with Notes to capture ideas the moment they strike
  • And more features such as Focus, Clipboard History sync, etc.

You can download Raycast on the App Store.
