Razer has released its first vertical mouse: the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition. This new model joins the standard Pro Click V2. While the standard Pro Click V2 has a more traditional ergonomic shape, the Vertical Edition takes a more radical approach, aiming to compete directly with well-known brands like Logitech in the vertical mouse space.
The Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition features a sharp 71.7-degree angle, designed to promote a more natural grip, similar to holding someone’s hand in a handshake. This is a major difference from the standard Pro Click V2, which has a 30-degree tilt. A large thumb cutout makes it easy to hold securely, and an extended base slightly lifts the wrist to reduce strain during long use.
These design choices clearly move away from Razer’s usual gaming-focused style. This time, the company seems to be prioritizing comfort over flashy looks. Although don’t get me wrong, it looks good. The difference is that it looks a lot like a regular mouse instead of Razer’s signature futuristic look.
In terms of technical specs, the Vertical Edition shares many features with the standard Pro Click V2. Both mice use Razer’s advanced Focus Pro Optical Sensor, with a maximum sensitivity of 30,000 DPI, a top speed of 550 inches per second, and a maximum acceleration of 40G. They also both have mechanical switches rated for 60 million clicks, which means long-lasting durability.
The Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition offers up to 6 months of battery life, beating the standard V2’s 3.5 months. Both support Razer HyperSpeed Wireless (2.4 GHz), Bluetooth connectivity for up to three devices, and USB-C wired mode, but the Vertical Edition has 18 zones of underglow RGB lighting compared to the standard model’s 14 zones. Finally, the Vertical Edition has eight programmable buttons, one less than the standard Pro Click V2’s nine buttons.
This is a big difference from the original Pro Click, which had a white and grey color scheme, making it obvious that it was meant for office use. You can still find the original on Amazon for $84.92. The V2 models, however, go back to Razer’s familiar style, with an all-black design and bright RGB lighting. This shift in appearance likely reflects an effort to attract customers who already know Razer’s brand while still maintaining ergonomic improvements.
The main rivals for the vertical edition would be the Logitech MX Vertical and its successor, the Logitech Lift. These are some of the best Ergonomic Mice. However, Razer’s version stands out with features like the advanced Focus Pro Optical Sensor, programmable buttons, and customizable RGB lighting.
