Realme 13 Pro Series Launches With Hyperimage+ AI Photography

Realme’s numbered smartphones are the best representatives of what the company has to offer each year (even though they are not necessarily the most powerful). This year, we get the Realme 13 devices, and today, the Realme 13 Pro and the Realme 13 Pro+ have both been made official.

We’re going to dive into the juicy specs for both of these devices, but they both come with a design inspired by impressionist art, solid midrange specifications, a price point that’s hard to pass on, and a massive focus on photography infused with the power of AI. Let’s dive in.

The Realme 13 Pro Series Takes Photography Pretty Seriously

We live in a time where midrange devices are able to bring plenty of performance to the table but tend to only lack when it comes to their experience in the photographic realm. It’s no surprise then that midrange smartphone models do their best to maximize their camera hardware with software. With AI, that should theoretically become a lot easier.

We’ll talk about the cameras in-depth soon, but Realme certainly wants you to listen, with how heavily it has been advertising its Hyperimage+ AI camera tech.

The Design

Whether you want a Realme 13 Pro or a 13 Pro+, you’ll be glad to know that there’s not much of a difference between the two design-wise. Both are nearly identical, with a design inspired by the works of impressionist painter Claude Monet. There’s a waviness to the finish on the glass back panel that’s a tad attractive on the Monet Gold and Monet Purple colorways. There’s a vegan leather Emerald Green option with gold accents.

Both devices have a circular camera module in the upper part of the back panel with a segment cut off at the bottom for a metallic accent. The devices are both IP65 rated.

The Screen

Both phones have identical displays. It is a 6.7-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED panel with 2,000-nit peak brightness. There’s a punchhole cutout at the top for the selfie camera, of course.

The Chipset And Memory

Both devices come with the midrange Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 inside, so it’s not the most performant chip in the world (better to get a Realme GT phone for that), but it is a very solid middle-tier option, so you likely won’t have many complaints. The 13 Pro starts at 8/128GB and the 13 Pro+ starts at 8/256GB. Both can be specced up to 12/512GB.

The Battery

Both phones have large 5,200mAh batteries inside, but with the 13 Pro, you get only 45W fast charging while the 13 Pro+ pushes up to 80W.

The Cameras

The cameras are the stars here. The primary in the Realme 13 Pro+ is a 50MP unit with OIS debuting Sony’s LYT-701 sensor. There’s also a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto which also debuts the Sony LYT-600 for periscope use. The regular 13 Pro uses a 50MP Sony LYT-600 with OIS for its primary. Both phones have an 8MP ultrawide as well. They share a 32MP selfie snapper.

Of course, there’s a lot of hype with the Hyperimage+ AI tech, which is said to be the first AI photography architecture in the industry. There’s a lot of marketing speak, but real-world use will ultimately show what these cameras can do.

The Pricing
