Realme Neo 7 Teases Crazy 7,000mAh Battery; Thinner Than GT Neo 6

With the advent of silicon-based battery technology, we’ve seen what is arguably the most sudden and uniform boost in battery capacities in smartphones—at least those coming out of China. As someone who prioritizes battery life in my smartphones, I’m a fan of this development.

For the most part, any smartphone that has a battery capacity in the 6,000s is considered to have a massive battery. 7,000 isn’t usual territory for most smartphones in general, talk less of flagships. However, this year has brought a change to that. Even a non-gaming flagship like the upcoming Realme Neo 7 will have a 7,000mAh battery.

Realme Somehow Fits A 7,000mAh Battery Into Its Upcoming Realme Neo 7

Big batteries are a thing of the moment, thanks to advancements in battery technology, and I’m all for it. However, I thought we’d be staying under the 7,000mAh mark for a long time, at least for non-gaming flagships. Fortunately, Realme, an established trendsetter in the mobile space, has shown its intentions to push things to the next level.

The company’s next device is going to be the Realme Neo 7, dropping the “GT” tag that we’ve gotten so used to from the company’s flagship devices. All will be revealed regarding the upcoming smartphone on December 11th, though it’ll be a China-exclusive launch at first, before going global. However, the company has teased one very impressive detail on its spec sheet, and that’s the battery.

The Realme Neo 7 is going to be coming with a massive 7,000mAh battery, building on the big battery we saw in the Realme GT 7 Pro. In case you don’t understand how amazing that really is, only one flagship phone this year (and last year), launched with a battery larger than 7,000mAh, and that was the Redmagic 10 Pro+, which, as a gaming phone, doesn’t necessarily play by the same rules as a “regular” flagship like the Realme.

The Largest Battery In Any Realme Device, Yet Even Thinner Than The Realme GT Neo 6

Unsurprisingly, 7,000mAh is the most that Realme has ever crammed into one of its devices, and according to the company, you’ll get three days of usage out of it. And even though it isn’t marketed as a gaming phone, the company also boasts of how you can get up to 8.5 hours of gaming on it, at 120fps. That’s extremely impressive because my current device would struggle to do 3 hours straight.

And perhaps the most impressive part is that despite adding 1,500mAh over its predecessor, this upcoming device is somehow 0.1mm thinner. I don’t think there’s ever been a better demonstration of how efficient silicon batteries are, volume-wise.

The battery capacity isn’t the only thing that we know about the upcoming smartphone from Realme. We also expect it to come with a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+, which is still a fantastic chip, even if the Dimensity 9400 is available. It’ll also advance to IP69 water resistance, a popular trend at the moment.

It is expected to launch at CNY 2,499, which comes to $345. Obviously, it won’t be that cheap internationally, but it should still come out at an international price that’s a major bargain.
