It was late last year that Nubia released the Redmagic 9 Pro and the 9 Pro+, and even then, they had specifications that were pretty much as good as they could get. After all, you still can’t go any better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 if you plan to remain in the Qualcomm camp. So, when word came out that there was going to be a Redmagic 9s Pro series coming, it was a pretty obvious question to ask what upgrades were coming.

Well, now, we know one of those. The Redmagic 9s Pro and Pro+ both seem set to come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 inside, however, this will be an overclocked version of the chip, with the single big core being clocked to 3.4GHz instead of 3.3GHz, which we know thanks to Geekbench. That’s a bit more power and enough to set it apart from most of the competition, though the S24 devices use a similarly overclocked CPU. The GPU gets some slight overclocking love too.

In addition, this overclocking is a testament to Nubia‘s belief in its new high-end cooling system, which it calls ICE 13.5. Theoretically, it should be able to handle the extra heat that comes with overclocking the processor, and additionally, keep it running at full potential a lot longer than competitors can (since it’ll be dissipating the heat produced a lot more effectively).

The Redmagic 9s Pro and Redmagic 9s Pro+ are both expected to launch on July 3rd, which is in just a few days. We know that the Pro+ model is expected to match the previous generation with 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. That’s a lot of power.

Regarding the 9s Pro, we know it is going to keep the 6,500 mAh battery from its predecessor, and it also seems like the 9 Pro+ will be sharing its 165W fast charging with the 9s Pro this year. Both phones, unsurprisingly, are going to make AI a big part of the marketing too. This is all information that Redmagic has made clear on Weibo.

The Redmagic 9s Pro+ was benchmarked on AnTuTu with its overclocked CPU and ridiculous RAM and storage specs, and quite unsurprisingly, it came out on top with a total score of 2,369,542, which was posted proudly by the official AnTuTu account on Weibo.

Just for reference, the previous highest score was 2,112,748, which was registered by another gaming phone, the Asus ROG 8 Pro. The Redmagic 9 Pro is in the now third spot, with 2,074,893. Not only is that a massive jump over its predecessor, but a 250,000+ leap over the previous record holder. The Galaxy S24 Ultra only has 1,793,346! We can’t wait to see how great the upcoming phone will be in daily use.
