Resident Evil Village, Capcom’s latest entry in the massively successful survival horror series, has shipped more than three million units worldwide, less than one week after its release.
Capcom confirmed the milestone in a press release, revealing that the game has shipped three million units across the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, and PC and that the series as a whole has sold more than 100 million units since its initial release in 1996.
The figure includes shipments to retailers, as well as digital sales, which is how Capcom usually counts it. This is comparable to the sales of both Resident Evil 7 as well as the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
A direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village expanded on the lore of the series and utilized Capcom’s RE Engine to create gorgeous visuals, all the while expanding on the first-person survival horror elements that made Resident Evil 7 a stand-out. We liked it a lot too — in our review, we said, “stunning visuals, truly bizarre creatures, a memorable parade of eccentric characters, and truly satisfying gameplay make Resident Evil Village soar, even if a few quirks in the plot delivery deflate the spectacle.”
The Resident Evil series has provided some of the best horror games on Xbox, and that trend continues with Resident Evil Village.
