The Cat6 Black PoE Patch Cable from Monoprice is a phenomenal way to wire your home systems. Thanks to its high data transfer speeds, this impressive cable allows you to connect your PoE IP cameras, VoIP phones, WAPs, and much, much more. On top of this, this cable is available in many sizes. For this review, I was provided with a 25ft and a 50ft monster cable. Accordingly, I have plenty of wire to play with when I’m hard-wiring my devices.
Alongside this, I was impressed with the amazing build quality and the durability of this product. Furthermore, the connection was secure and stable and the PoE design reduces the need for an additional power source. As such, when this is used with compatible devices, the finish is streamlined and professional.
What’s in the box of the Cat6 Black PoE Patch Cable?
- You will not be blown away by the packaging. However, Monoprice keeps its prices down by minimising the bells and whistles. Consequently, you are provided with a plastic bag and little else.
- The Cat6 Black PoE Patch Cable is tightly wound and easy to handle. Moreover, it is relatively heavy, and the rubberised case is hard-wearing and durable.
Technical aspects.
It goes without saying, but you must have compatible devices to make the most of this wonderful cable. However, you can use this cable for standard ethernet tasks if you so wish. Where this excels is its incredible transfer speeds and its ability to disperse heat. Accordingly, this helps to reduce wear and tear whilst maintaining the advertised speeds.
Capable of up to 10G data transfer speeds and 90W of electricity, you won’t be disappointed. Additionally, you can enjoy this performance over a whopping 260ft length. Consequently, you’ll enjoy ridiculous cable runs without worrying about a dip in performance. The consistency is helped by the impressive 22AWG conductor. This feature provides less resistance and less heat.
Alongside this, it is compliant with IEEE 802.3af/bt to 262ft. Therefore, you are assured that every device maintains optimum speed and power transfer no matter the distance. Build quality.
You may be thinking, “It is just a cable who cares about the build quality!”. Well, whenever I’m wiring in my devices, I don’t want to be wasting time because of poor build quality. Not only is it tested and compliant for great distances, but it looks and feels great as well.
The heavy rubberised casing houses the robust ethernet connectors. Additionally, the thick cable has enough flex and movement to be used in tight and tough-to-navigate spaces. Moreover, the ability to customise the length of the cable was impressive. Subsequently, you may order the right length for any job you have.
Though I haven’t used these cables for any great length of time, I was extremely happy with them. These technically brilliant items were easy to handle whilst appearing durable and strong. Consequently, I have no fear that they will last.
Is the Cat6 Black PoE Patch Cable worth it?
This sort of item isn’t something you buy on the fly. As such, you either want one of these cables, or you don’t.
