Rarely have I put up videos of a new piece of tech that have received as many flabbergasted responses as when I posted a 10-second clip of the Dyson 360 Vis Nav doing its thing in my living room.

The pure, unbridled jealousy that emanated from my friends and family via my phone came almost as a shock; people care THIS MUCH about a little robot vacuum?
It turns out, yes, especially because it has come from Dyson, a brand that is pretty much synonymous with quality and presenting the best in class for every product they release… and with hefty price tags.
The same is true with the Dyson 360 Vis Nav, which purports to be the most powerful robot vacuum around (by a wide margin), but it also has a potentially off-putting cost to go along with it.

Once unboxed and you’ve downloaded the accompanying app, making all the necessary connections with your Wi-Fi, the Dyson 360 Vis Nav mostly takes care of itself. You’ll need to set up its little home base somewhere out of the way so it knows where to go to recharge and/or dock itself, but with the push of a button, it is off and mapping the terrain, spotting table legs and other obstacles so it knows where to go (and where not to go) next time around.
Dyson claims that the device has six times more suction power than other robot vacuums, adapting to the levels depending on how much strength is needed to properly clean some of the naturally-more-dusty parts of your home. A loadout on the app shows you the full cleaning map area it took up, as well as which parts of your home are the dirtiest.
The size of the device meant it couldn’t fit underneath the sofas in my living room, which, to be fair, are quite close to the floor, so if you’ve got a higher set of seating, chances are good it will clean up under there for you, too. There were also some issues with the device finding its home base again after cleaning up, meaning it would miss the dock by inches, so it would wander off to find a better angle of approach, only to miss again.

That being said, the fix was simple – turn it off and place it back at the dock. Cleaning the Dyson 360 Vis Nav is simple too, and to be fair, the floors were spotless every time I used it. But having said all of that… the price might be properly intimidating to even the most ardent tech lovers.
