Review – Roborock Q Revo robot vacuum: Actually worth the premium price

When we hear the name “Roborock”, we immediately think of high-end robot vacuums that has the latest, super advanced features and at a super high price. But this robot vacuum is the Roborock Q Revo – a robot vacuum that is priced at the mid-range market but still considered premium when we compare the feature set with other vacuums.

Roborock claims that this is a vacuum that provides good value for money. What makes the company say such a thing as this Roborock Q Revo has an official price tag of RM3,799?

Okay, long-time viewers of this channel will know that we have been using Roborock vacuums for years already. We have been using the S6 MaxV since like 3 years ago and their technology just keeps improving since then.

The unboxing of this robot vacuum is very simple – we have the quick start guide – which you can pause and read it if you want to – but I’m going to skip it since we already know how things work.

It’s here we can find the two round mops – and we’ll get back to this later.

There is a spare bag – that’s nice. Then, we reach the robot vacuum itself and finally – the dock.

I have to say – I didn’t expect the dock to be this big. It’s humongous- but it has a few tiers. At the top, we have two big tanks for clean water and dirty water. This is… an extremely big tank, honestly. It’s 5 liters, to be exact. Be careful not to slip while filling it because there is no handle when the lid is opened.

If you’re confused about which tank goes where, then I’m glad to show you Roborock’s genius design. Both these tanks have a hinge to open and close but the hinges are designed differently. Once you slot it inside the dock, the hinges line up properly and it looks absolutely beautiful. It’s tiny details like this that make me appreciate my job as a reviewer.

Then, the middle of the dock can actually be opened and that’s where we can find the bag. It can be easily removed and swap it to the spare one.

As for the robot vacuum itself, this thing perplexed me quite a lot. You see, the robot vacuum looks really sleek and minimalist. The front flap can be opened and that reveals the chamber for dust. We can then take out the filter if we want to, and you can also wash it and reuse the filter too. Just make sure it’s completely dry before reinstalling.

Usually, the water tank is attached to the dust box, but… it’s not here. At least, it’s not accessible.

At the bottom of the robot vacuum, we have the sweeper that we can remove by just unscrewing, good – and the rubber rollers can also be detached everywhere to clean too. Even the axle covers can be opened since hair will get tangled under that area.

As for the mop, it seems to be magnetized and snaps inside these two hexagonal shapes. In case these mops need to be washed separately, then they can be removed by just pulling them out.

Since all of these parts can be removed, they can be serviced and cleaned and even be replaced when needed – and they’re not that expensive too. That’s great in terms of the longevity of the robot vacuum and keeping it running for as long as possible.

I paired the robot vacuum using the Mi Home app instead of Roborock’s own app because they’re practically the same – but I use Mi Home’s app to manage my other smart home products as well.

Then, I need the robot vacuum to learn the map first so I tapped on quick mapping and it just took 5 minutes to map the entire area – thanks to the LIDAR sensor at the top of this robot vacuum. It doesn’t have to go to every nook and cranny to know the floor plan, but it gets most of it right.

Now, the features available here are pretty typical for Roborock’s standards. We can see where the robot vacuum is while it is cleaning, the battery status, and also look at the status of the consumables.

We can also change the voice of the robot vacuum too – and I have to mention this. This dude is called Xiao Zhan and he is the global ambassador for Roborock. His voice is also available for you to download and use on the robot vacuum too.

All of that is great and all – but is the robot vacuum actually clean? Honestly, yes. This Q Revo is actually very similar to the S7 MaxV that I’ve been using since more than a year ago – but the Q Revo’s strength lies in its mopping capabilities. I thought that the Q Revo will just have some of the features found on the S7 MaxV and that’s about it because of the nature of how trickle-down technology works. It has the same single rubber roller, self-emptying dock, self-cleaning mop, and also self-refilling feature.

But, the Roborock Q Revo does have its own set of exclusive innovations that are not found in any other robot vacuums offered by the company to this date. Those dual-spinning mop design is currently only found in the Q Revo and is very clean. I mean, it literally scrubs the floor!

It’s even cleaner than the flagship S8 Pro Ultra and the S7 MaxV has the VibraRise feature and literally just drags the mop across the floor.

However, if you have carpeted floors, then I don’t think the Q Revo is for you. This robot vacuum is meant for hard floors – either wood or tiles – and that’s where the Q Revo’s excellent mopping capabilities can shine. I mean, you can’t mop carpets.

By the way, the dock also has a heater to dry the mop to prevent bacterial growth or odor buildup. Even the S7 MaxV Ultra doesn’t have this feature by default.

I also realized that even at the maximum suction force and the highest water flow level selected, this robot vacuum isn’t that loud.

Should you buy the Roborock Q Revo robot vacuum?

So, for the price of RM3,799, I think the company’s claim of “value of money” is actually true, but only for those that don’t have carpeted floors. It has all of the right features and that 5 liter water tank can mop my floor like about 5 times even when I selected the water flow to “extreme”.

It’s an amazing robot vacuum, honestly. Buy this.
