Indie game developer Team Tapas announced its next game Garden of Witches will launch into Steam
early access on May 23. Garden of Witches is a roguelike action RPG with a cute and cozy aesthetic that’ll remind you of Cult of the Lamb’s art style. You’ll play as the young witch Sil, brandishing large scissors for a weapon, as she gathers fellow witches to hold a garden-saving tea party. The indie games sphere is a crowded space, especially for roguelikes, so Garden of Witches will be banking on its cozy/roguelike mashup to stand out.
A Garden of Witches Demo Is Already Available to Play
According to the press release, “Garden of Witches features cute characters and fairytale-inspired visuals alongside fast-paced action based on real-time combat.” It promises several spells, weapons, and Relics (effects to enhance your character) so that players can customize and experiment with their builds.
Interested players can check out a demo for Garden of Witches via Steam. As with plenty of other indies, the game doesn’t have a price tag yet, so expect that to be revealed closer to the early access launch. It also has an “unknown” rating in terms of Steam Deck compatibility, so Deck owners will have to try out the demo themselves to see how Garden of Witches fares.

Garden of Witches Early Access Will Include the Entire Main Story
The full game of Garden of Witches will include five story chapters, and all five will be playable in the early access release. “Each chapter boasts its own unique combat system and theme, with complexity and depth increasing gradually as players progress,” the press release noted.
Garden of Witches will be the developer’s first stab at a PC game as its previous two titles were mobile games. They found their audiences well, with A Girl Adrift having over 10 million global downloads and Bistro Heroes reaching just over 3 million downloads. Team Tapas hasn’t stated how long its game will be in early access for, but it pledges to “actively listen to player feedback and make continuous improvements,” according to the press release. Some changes have already been implemented, such as an overhauled difficulty system, “allowing both casual and skilled players to fully enjoy the game.” Sil’s counter skill has also been rebalanced as “a high-risk-high-reward skill.”
