Rumored Sonos streamer, Amazon event preview, & Matter Wi-Fi

On this episode of the HomeKit Insider Podcast, Jennifer Tuohy stops by to discuss the rumored Sonos streaming box, Amazon’s big media event, and more.

Hot off its launch of the excellent Arc Ultra, Sonos is gearing up for another new product. It’s rumored to be launching an Apple TV competitor, priced between $200 and $400.

Fan-fave of the show, The Verge’s Jennifer Tuohy, joins to talk about this new box and what it needs to do to be successful in a crowded market.

We then pivot to Amazon’s upcoming press event. They usually take place in the fall, but there wasn’t one in 2024 as Amazon worked on polishing its AI-powered Alexa update.

There were a few new products in the news this week, too. Eve released an updated indoor HomeKit Secure Video camera and we saw new long-range Z-wave smart locks.

The episode rounds out with a discussion on smart home Wi-Fi. CSA, the unifying organization behind, has a plan to partner with the Thread Group and Wi-Fi alliance to fix Wi-Fi in smart homes and end those unresponsive accessories.
