Rumours – are they good or bad for the Apple community as a whole?

I’ve been following the various response threads following WWDC22, and I’ve been comparing what we actually got to what the various published rumours suggested we might be going to get.

I realise this place is a rumour site first and foremost, but I sometimes think it can set people up for just a very big fall. People get whipped into a frenzy by the so-called ‘leaks’ and ‘renders’ from ‘reputable insiders’ regarding just-around-the-corner tech which will change their lives, instead of treating it with a sizeable dose of salt. Then when the genuine announcements finally come from Apple, and people find them spectacularly underwhelming compared to what the leakers were ‘almost sure is coming’, the tangible disappointment on this site is akin to that of a newly-married bridegroom discovering he got hitched on the first day of “don’t you even ******* come near me” week.

What’s your opinion?
