We recently got official confirmation that Rust is heading to consoles this Spring, spearheaded by developer Double Eleven (not the original developer on PC, Facepunch). It’s an exciting development for console players interested in this popular and challenging survival game, but it was unclear how well Rust would translate to consoles from the Xbox One and PS4 families. Today, Double Eleven has released uncut gameplay footage of Rust running on the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.
While it’s undeniable that Rust likely isn’t going to win any awards for its visuals on Xbox and PlayStation, it does look pretty good in this early preview from Double Eleven. If you weren’t already aware, Double Eleven is an independent studio that’s known for taking on projects from other developers and bringing them to other platforms.
Most notably, Double Eleven is currently assisting Mojang Studios on the popular ARPG Minecraft Dungeons, as well as Prison Architect on PC and console. Double Eleven is a reputable studio, so hopefully we can expect a great experience from Rust: Console Edition.
Rust is heading to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4 consoles in Spring 2021, but we don’t have an exact release date. It’s also not clear how similar Rust on consoles will be to the PC version, although this gameplay footage does help a little bit. Rust already competes with popular games like Valheim and Grounded for its spot on our list of Best Survival Games for PC. Hopefully, Rust can also make the list of Best Survival Games for Xbox when it launches later this year.
